The iron content of ground water in many regions in China reaches 5~15mg/L, and even 20~39 mg/L, and the manganese content reaches 0.5~2.0mg/L, even exceeding 2.0 mg/L. The iron in the ground water in which the iron exceeds the standard exists in the state of Fe2+, so the water is clean but has iron taste. After long time, the water will become turbid. It is very easy for Fe2+ to contaminate the ion exchange resin and make the resin poisoned and its exchange capacity reduced. The reverse osmotic membrane will be contaminated by Fe2+ and fail. When the ferric water is used as boiler feeding water, it is easy to scale, which not only has impact on thermal transmission but also causes corrosion of wall of pipes easily. When the iron content of cooling water exceeds 0.5mg/L, iron will cause the reproduction of iron bacteria and the produced slime can not only block the pipe, but also accelerate the corrosion of equipment. The deferrization & demanganization filter integrates the processes of oxidation, ion exchange, interception and clarification. Besides, a reasonable process can be designed according to the client’s water quality to reach reliable and stable effect.
Aeration shall be conducted for the purpose of deferrization and demanganization in the water to oxidize divalent iron and bivalent manganese by oxygen in the air, so as to produce Fe(OH)3 and MnO2. The selection of jet aeration or polyhedral hollow sphere aeration shall depend on the content of iron and manganese in the water. The filtration by one-layer or multi-layer deferrization & demanganization filter can satisfy the requirement of treatment. The iron and manganese content of output water reach 0.3mg/L and 0.1m/l respectively, meeting the state standard for drinking water.
