Circulating water cooling covers closed circulating water cooling system and open circulating water cooling system. As to the former, water circulates in a closed manner, and water cooling does not have direct contact with air. As to the later, water cooling need to have direct contact with air. According to different contacting methods with air, it can be divided into cooling on water surface, in water spray cooling pond and in cooling tower.
After utilization of circulating cooling water, ions like Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, and SO42-, dissolved solids and suspended solids in water will increase correspondingly. Pollutants in air such as dust, sundries, soluble air and material leakage of heat exchanger will penetrate into the circulating cooling water, which brings corrosion and fouling to the equipment and pipelines in the circulating cooling water system, reduces the heat transfer efficiency of the exchanger, decreases the water-passing section and even makes the equipments and pipelines corrode and perforate.
Fouling, corrosion and microbial propagation in the circulating cooling water system are incident with one another. Fouling and microbe with soil will result in corrosion under fouling, and corroded product will created fouling. To solve these problems in the circulating cooling water system, comprehensive treatment must be performed. Water quality stabilization technique together with methods combining physical and chemical treatment shall be adopted to control and improve water quality, to solve effectively corrosion, fouling and biofouling in the circulating cooling water system and to obtain good water and energy saving effect.
Comparable efficiency of input-output ration is 1:2 ~ above 1:10, which improves the availability factor of equipments, prolongs their service life and operating security and reduces environmental pollution.
The utilization environment of circulating cooling water determines the quality of its supplementary water, common water quality softening or water treatment by ion exchange. Raw water with more serious environmental pollution has higher salt content, so technology of pretreatment + reverse osmosis + ultraviolet sterilizer is adopted. In practice, circulating pipelines shall be protected and cleaned properly. Water quality shall be monitored in particular and reported to the technicians to take actions in case of any problems.
